The French Duo Justice had the crowd singing disco tunes at Wavefront.
It has been said that there wont be a cool solely electronic music festival in Chicago for another couple of months… Well at least this summer… For those of you who were lucky enough to check out EDC, Spring Awakening or Wavefront we envy you. Actually not really… I had the opportunity of checking out Wavefront music festival, and I gotta say it was pretty damn sick. I mean this thing had everything a man can ever desire from half naked women, nature, the city view, amazing music, and did I mention women?!?! The fusion of fantastic light shows, the sounds of jackin’ house, distorted bass lines and of course the usual atmospheric pads followed by a series of bleep bleeps this definitely was an event worth living.
Getting back to the music, I just received a cool album from our friends at Verve. They made a cool remix compilation of some of the greatest women singers of all time featuring Astrud Gilberto, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald and many more. Remixers consisted of Toro y Moi, Zeds Dead, Bassnectar and other cool dudes
In particular I found Flume’s Jackin House Mix of Marlena Shaw to be the prize winner in the entire album. If you’re a deejay… this is a must have!
