Will Tyler, The Creator release a new album in 2025? Speculation and Rumors

Creative Commons

In 2021, Tyler, The Creator released (in my opinion) a masterpiece titled CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST; his first LP since 2019's concept story-based album Igor, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST returned to a more personal format we hadn't seen from Tyler since 2017's Flower Boy, with songs about relationships, traveling the world (with the branding for the album heavily inspired by 20th century Art Deco and Streamline Moderne), and building his own media empire from not only music but also fashion and commerce.

This release was widely expected; Tyler, up to this point, was consistent in releasing new music every 2 years, going back a full decade earlier to the 2-year gap between his freshman and sophomore projects "Bastard" and "Goblin," respectively, released in 2009 and 2011. A common consensus among Tyler fans was that the next album after CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST would be released in 2023, though some speculation thought that the ambition and scope of his albums would require another year, so 2024 could be the next release for a major Tyler album.

2022 came and went, with people airing their varied predictions of what Tyler would do next; some said the next album would be fairly standard, or maybe a collaboration with Tyler's longtime friend A$AP Rocky, or even a disco fusion album called Welcome to the Disco, referencing a line from DJ Drama in the song "Sweet/I Thought You Wanted to Dance" and a couple of offhand tweets from Tyler all the way back in 2011.

In 2023, we got official news that a new Tyler release was coming, but it was something completely unexpected; instead of a new album, he would release CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale, a deluxe version of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST with extra songs, including demos from the original recording session and several fully new songs like "Dogtooth" and "Sorry Not Sorry," the latter of which teased what the next album might be like. The release was lauded, and I was a big fan, but any Tyler fan knows that the fanbase doesn't stay satisfied for long, and soon there was a frenzy over whether this deluxe album would be the sole release for the year; he confirmed everyone's fears towards the end of summer '23, promoting his "release for 2023" on his Instagram story.

Fans were divided over this; many defended Tyler, saying that he earned a break after releasing such a great album, saying the deluxe version is more than enough, while some criticized the move, saying that he would have little new material to bring to music festivals over the next 2 years, including his own, Camp Flog Gnaw, which he brought back in 2023 after a several-year hiatus; moving into 2024, speculation shot up again; since Tyler broke his schedule, maybe new songs would be on their way. However, these slowly spreading rumors were shot down in a single tweet;

So, it doesn't seem like Tyler will release anything new for some time. However, I wouldn't lose hope entirely; some leaks have come out here and there, and even if some end up being fake, it's almost certain that whatever Tyler has planned next will change what's going on in rap, just like his last 2 full LPs have.
