WECode (Women Engineers Code) returned for its 11th year, bringing together over 500 students from around the world, both online and in-person. This conference is an amazing space for students to connect, learn, and explore different career paths in technology!

What is WECode?

WECode is the largest student-run women-in-tech conference in the world, organized by undergraduate women at Harvard University. Every spring, they host an event that gives students a chance to learn from industry leaders, attend workshops, and grow their networks. The focus is on empowering women in tech by creating opportunities for learning, mentorship, and professional growth.

Events and Workshops

Throughout the conference, there were 20+ workshops and talks covering everything from Product Management to Software Engineering. These sessions offered something for everyone, whether you’re exploring a new career path or looking to dive deeper into a specific area.

One of the best parts of WECode was the chance to meet new people from different backgrounds. I had the opportunity to chat with other attendees and ask them about their experiences so far. Here’s what some of them had to say:

• “LOVE IT.”

• “Great conference with informational details.”

• “The keynote and talks are really helpful for my career path.”

It was inspiring to hear how much everyone was enjoying the event and finding value in the sessions.

While attending these sessions, I had the chance to speak to some peers from the conference. And in this opportunity, I also had the chance to talk to a keynote speaker!

Keynote Speaker: Claire Williams

One of the most exciting moments of the conference was listening to Claire Williams, the former Deputy Team Principal of the Williams Formula One racing team. Claire spoke about her journey in Formula 1 and breaking barriers in a male-dominated industry. She shared stories about overcoming challenges, finding motivation, and making a name for herself in the world of racing.

Her message focused on resilience and the importance of staying true to your passion, even when the odds feel stacked against you. Hearing from someone who has faced so many obstacles and still found success was inspiring. Claire’s talk reminded all of us that women can lead and thrive in any industry!

Final Thoughts

WECode was more than just a conference, it was an experience filled with learning, inspiration, and connection. I left feeling motivated and excited about my future in tech. Events like these are important for building community and showing women in tech that they belong here.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s conference and can’t wait to see how WECode continues to grow and inspire future engineers!
