Damon Albarn (frontman of the Britpop band Blur and the voice behind Gorillaz) released his first full-length solo album “Everyday Robots” on April 25, 2014. Fans and critics have both been highly anticipating this release and Albarn did not disappoint.
Damon Albarn created “Everyday Robots” to express his concern about our generation’s growing attachment to technology.
Albarn, who had been making and producing music with Blur since the mid 80’s and Gorillaz since the late 90’s, finally takes a break from his other obligations to create this album. “Everyday Robots” is definitely different from any of his past projects with Blur and Gorillaz. The sound is more influenced by blues and R&B rather than rock and hip hop. Albarn also integrates a lot of classical instruments including the piano and strings.
