Vote, Damn It, Vote!

After two years of Donald Trump, you finally have a chance on November 6th to stop the madness. Don’t blow it!

You have heard the cliche, “This is the most important election of our lifetime,” but this year, it may well be true. Your vote to

return the system of checks and balances to our democracy may be your last chance to do so if Benedict Donald keeps moving

us toward a dictatorship, his “slow-moving coup,” to quote Bill Maher. Do you like clean air and water? You better vote. Do

you want to slow down climate change? You better vote. Do you want safe products and at least a modicum of consumer

protection? You better vote. Do you want affordable health care for everyone? You better vote. Two years ago, the election

purists among us couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Hillary Clinton and either sat the election out or threw their vote away

on a third-party candidate, and we were rewarded with the worst President in US history. Four years ago in Illinois, too many

voters weren’t excited enough to get out and vote for Pat Quinn, and we have had four years of one of the worst Governors in

Illinois history, and that’s saying something.

I have voted in every election since I was eligible in 1972, and I proudly was one of the few people in Alabama that voted for

George McGovern instead of Richard Nixon. I have continued to vote for the Democratic candidate every four years, and it

was the right choice every time. The Republicans are supposedly the party of business, but they destroy the economy every

time they have been given the chance. If in doubt on November 6th, remember this handy phrase. “Vote Blue no matter

who.” You will be better off for it, and your ancestors will thank you for doing your part to save our planet. There is no good

excuse for not voting. Just do it.
