Hello everyone, today I will be doing something a little bit different. I'm going to talk about coffee! And cafes I've been to and love! Now, I'm going to share some of my secret spots, so keep this hush-hush ;)
Ground Up-- I LOVE this place! Their coffee is so good and creative. For a while, I would get the "By the Fire" coffee with oat milk (I don't do dairy >:p) and I loved it, it was perfectly sweet and a little bit smoky. The environment is just the best, not exactly underground, but definitely a place to go when you have 30 minutes or so between classes to study or hang out.
Sugar Goat-- In the West Loop, you might see a tiny teal storefront with a goat, you've found Sugar Goat! Honestly, pretty good, their cupcakes and baked good are easily the money makers, but their coffee is pretty decent. I got an iced oat milk latte, pretty basic, but good, very smooth and not too bitter nor too sweet. If you're looking for a cutesy shop to visit this would be on my list! (Oh wait... it already is)
Jumping Bean-- When in Pilsen and looking for a pick-me-up, you must visit the Jumping Bean! Their coffee is so good! And I have it on good word that their hot chocolate isn't so bad either! Once again the environment is to die for! Ofc it is a must-have on my list. They also have a wonderful bakery/food selection.
Two Shades Café-- Honestly not my fav... Their food is pretty good, but tbh their coffee was lacking... I got their dirty chai and I could hardly taste the espresso or the chai. Similar to the taro latte, all I could taste is milk, which is really sad because I love the environment and atmosphere. I've heard their lunch selection is also very good.
Cafe Deko-- So cute!! It's a little far, in Lincoln Park, but so worth it. The coffee was good, but THE SANDWICH?? So good. You've probably seen it on TikTok or Instagram before, but it definitely lives up to the hype!
Good Ambler-- SHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh I love this place. They are a chocolate place with an amazing bakery and really really good coffee. Even good sandwiches! Their coffee is so smooth and sweet without being overly sweet, and just such an amazing space too!! I'd recommend you check it out but...
And finally, my most recent spot:
Sawada-- Ugh I love this place. It easily is one of the best (if not the best) spots for matcha in the city (at least so far) and the place itself is just lovely. The upper level is a café, while the lower is a bar/food spot. The whole place is lit by string lights and is just... so cool. But once again, don't come here because I don't want it to become too busy because I love it here <3
Of course, when I say "don't come here" I don't mean literally (mostly), genuinely these are pretty much all great spots that I highly recommend for you to try yourselves, and just because something wasn't a good fit for me, doesn't mean it won't be for you!
Thank you so much for reading this week's blog! And next week we will continue with the regularly scheduled program <3
