Women's Golf at UIC

This week in UIC Flames Athletics, we’ll cover championship sports as women’s golf and men’s gymnastics head out on a quest to bring a title and hardware back to campus.

UIC heads to the Sunshine State this weekend to open the 2019 Horizon League Women’s Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort. The 54-hole tournament begins on Sunday, April 21, and it continues with single rounds on the Las Colinas course on both Monday and Tuesday.

At the conference tournament a year ago, on the same course, UIC posted its best finish in the brief history of the program. The Flames finished fourth with a three-round total of 97-over par, 973, in 2018. That was the program’s best finish and lowest score at the Horizon League Championship since the program’s inception in 2011-12. The team had previously tied for fourth in 2015 with a three-round total of 983. The Flames finished fifth in 2016 with a total of 974.

Sam Montague and Kaleb Booth represented UIC Men’s Gymnastics at the NCAA national meet in a qualifying session Friday night. With just three spots available in each event for individuals to advance to Saturday’s finals, neither Flame scored high enough to make it through.

Montague totaled 71.898 in the all-around. Booth scored 13.400 on his floor exercise.
