From what was an idea to a radio show with an expanding brand, Apex Radio has gone through many stages throughout this show, and we have many more exciting ideas to look forward to!
Apex Radio consisted of 3 individuals: Karisma, Frankie, and Mike. Undoubtedly, the on-air chemistry we all shared was due to many years of friendship, as we became fast friends in high school leading up to UIC. Initially, we had no idea about UIC having a radio station; however, with the help of a friend who was a part of the organization, we were introduced to UIC radio. Once we were introduced, we each found a love for radio and ultimately made the decision to be a part of radio and have our show!
Originally, Apex Radio was a DJ show with Mike DJing. It began to be about playing music we like and can relate to. Mike, Frankie, and I are all Hispanic but from different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. The music played within our show began to reflect our roots and culture. What once was a show without any direction became a show that shows pride in Spanish music, which reflects the music we have grown up with and loved, as well as recent releases we like to listen to.
Apex Radio has one goal: to share the music we love with those willing to listen and hear us out! Apex Radio is expanding with the addition of a new Co-host! With our new co-host, Giselle, we will continue to play music that resonates with our goals and roots. Apex Radio has had many ups and downs, but throughout it all, we’re like a small family and have found our home in the Radio room. :)
