What’s up, humans of the internet, welcome to my monthly blog! This month has been a complete whirlwind for music, partially because I only listened to like one artist the entire month with a little bit of other music sprinkled in, and partially because new albums have been getting released and I don’t have the time to listen to all of them which makes my head want to explode. BUT I’M CAUGHT UP WITH NEW ALBUMS! Keep reading if you want to hear my opinions on some of these new albums, as well as some new songs.
The Daily Blend’s March Top Ten 2019
With everything that is played on my show, you all probably think I have way too much happened in the skull area of my body. So, I want to give everyone a little insight as to what’s going on in my brain, without having to look at the “Recently Played” section on my Spotify. The solution I came to was to tell everyone about the hidden (and not so hidden) gems in my music library for the month. Some of the music I post will be at the top of charts, some of the music won’t be your style, some will be a band’s biggest hit that I’ve just been happening to listen to a lot, and some will be completely unknown to you!
So, to start it off, here’s just a couple of my favorite artists for March, a little bit about them, and some song suggestions:
1. Set It Off (Alternative Rock)
Did you really expect SIO to NOT be on my blog for the second month in a row?? Hilarious. Really though, I’m still obsessed a month later, and for the second month in a row, they’re (unsurprisingly) at the top of my list this month. Who would’ve guessed? Yes, I’m still blasting their new album (stream Midnight on all music streaming platforms!!) and yes, I’m still not over them. While you all continue to read this blog, I’m going to go cry over Set It Off because I really miss them and want to see them live again. Adios my friends and SIO will see you on next month’s blog!
Song suggestions: “Bleak December (Acoustic),” “Admit It” “Breathe In, Breathe Out”
2. Billie Eilish (Pop)
Wowwwwww this month has been FILLED with Billie Eilish. She just released her debut album at the very end of the month so of COURSE, I had to binge listen to all of her music all month to prepare for it. It will forever blow my mind that she’s only 17 and has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. Her voice is just so calming and peaceful but so incredibly powerful at the same time. I’m sure by now everyone’s heard her new album but if you HAVEN’T, then what are you doing?? STOP READING THIS AND GO LISTEN TO IT!!
Song suggestions: “bad guy,” “bury a friend,” “my strange addiction”
3. Beoga (Irish Folk)
Yes, friends, it’s March so of COURSE, I had to put an Irish band on here. I’ve danced to tons of Beoga’s music in my life, and I love all of it. They just released a new song this month too, which you’ll see later in the blog. That’s actually why I was listening to them a bit more this month – their new song is fantastic. All of the songs below, however, are instrumental just because I really love Beoga’s instrumental music, but there are some good songs with vocals too. You’ll have to check those out though if you’re interested!
Song suggestions: “Jazzy Wilbur,” “The Convict,” “Cu Chullain’s Despair”
4. The Faim (Alternative Rock)
Okay, so I heard of The Faim a while ago, but I never listened to them. A good friend of mine texted me at the end of the month saying that I needed to listen to a new song that was just released by The Faim. I checked it out, and OH MY GOD IT IS SO GOOD! Apparently one of the past members had some misconduct allegations a couple of years ago, so they were kind of problematic for a little bit, but that member is no longer in the band and The Faim is back on track to greatness. Go check out their music!
Song suggestions: “Amelie,” “I Can Feel You,” “Make Believe”
5. I Prevail (Rock)
I can confidently say that I liked this band before they got big. I’ve been a fan of IP for a couple of years now, maybe four or five years? Now, they’re super popular in the rock music scene, but they haven’t released music in about two or three years now. BUT they just released a new album literally just a couple of days ago (if you’re reading this in the way future, it’s probably more than a few days ago…) and I definitely have some opinions on it. I’m not going to lie, it’s very different but I’m overall not too mad at the album, I’m just not used to every song being different from one another, and even their other albums, but it’s good! Give it a listen!
Song suggestions: “DOA,” “Every Time I Leave,” “Let Me Be Sad”
6. Falling in Reverse (Rock)
No special reason why FIR is on here, I was just feeling nostalgic and listened to A BUNCH of older albums from different artists I used to listen to a lot, and I ended up listening to all of Falling in Reverse’s discography over the course of a couple of days this month. They really are fantastic, and I know I’ve had them on this blog a lot in the past, so no need to call me out about that. 🙂
Song suggestions: “Chemical Prisoner,” “Losing My Mind,” “It’s Over When It’s Over”
7. Jonas Brothers (Pop)
lol do I even have to say anything? they have returned to save music in 2019! go listen to their new song on all music streaming platforms!
Song suggestions: “Sucker,” “That’s Just The Way We Roll,” “S.O.S.”
8. Dayshell (Hard Rock)
This is a slightly unknown-ish band, although I have played them quite a bit on my show and I’m pretty sure they’ve been on the blog before as well (last month maybe? I don’t even remember). Either way, Dayshell has been releasing some new music lately and are planning for an album to come out soon and I’m so so so excited! Their music is absolutely fantastic, and I have no doubts that the rest of the new music will be great as well. Check them out!
Song suggestions: “Pressure,” “Kombat (feat. Dropout Kings),” “Car Sick”
9. The Maine (Alternative Rock)
Believe it or not, I’ve never really listened to The Maine. My friends all really like them, and I even accidentally met The Maine back in 2016 when waiting in line to get into the venue at Warped Tour because they were selling CDs and one of my friends bought one (they were really nice guys!). But until recently I never listened to them. The Maine just released a new album at the end of the month, though, and I really like the album! So maybe I should listen to the rest of their music…
Song suggestions: “Broken Parts,” “Heaven, We’re Already Here,” “Slip The Noose”
10. Emotional Oranges (Pop)
I found Emotional Oranges through Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist, which honestly has become my favorite playlist in the world. Emotional Oranges is like a weird blend of pop, alternative, and almost a little hip-hop, but they make it sound so good! They’re not super popular yet, and they only have five songs released, but they keep coming out with more music constantly, so keep them on your radar for the future!
Song suggestions: “Corners Of My Mind,” “Built That Way,” “Hold You Back”
Now we go on to the top tracks of March:
“Kill the Lights,” – Set It Off (Cinematics, 2012)
“heavy snow,” – Christian French (heavy snow – Single, 2019)
“Matthew’s Daughter (feat. Devin Dawson),” – Beoga (Matthew’s Daughter – Single, 2019)
“Bow Down,” – I Prevail (TRAUMA, 2019)
“Miracle,” – CHVRCHES (Love is Dead, 2018)

“Lost Without You,” – Freya Ridings (Lost Without You – Single, 2017)
“Sucker,” – Jonas Brothers (Sucker – Single, 2019)
“Blue Neon (Club Version),” – Aidan Gallagher (Blue Neon (Club Version) – Single, 2019)
“Insomnia,” – Daya (Insomnia – Single, 2019)
Aaaaaaand finally, the killer albums of March:

“TRAUMA,” – I Prevail (2019)

“Mischief,” – Beoga (2007)
“Just Like You,” – Falling in Reverse (2015)
“The Dirt Soundtrack,” – Mötley Crüe (2019)
With all of that being said, if you have something you think is “Top Ten” quality, like my Facebook page and follow me on Instagram and/or Twitter and shoot me a message! I’d love to take requests, and if I love the artist/album/song enough, it just might make it on my list!
