The COVID-19 pandemic has taken an unprecedented toll on the world. This pandemic has contributed to the loss of jobs, homes, and even lives. There has been no official date as to when this pandemic will be over with, just like there isn’t a cure… yet. A recent study conducted at Cardiff University, a school in the U.K., found that over the counter mouthwashes containing at least 0.07% cetypyridinium chloride (CPS) showed “signs” of being able to kill the virus.
To carry out the experiment, the mouthwashes used were Dentyl & Listerine. The results showed that the mouthwash may help kill the virus in saliva but unfortunately there was no evidence of a cure for COVID. It’s understandable why people are desperate for a cure for COVID, but this rhetoric could prove to be dangerous for people that aren’t fully informed. Also, the research was done in the U.K. so it’s unclear if the same findings will be found in the U.S. Only time will tell though.
