…ok, so it’s not over yet. But school is starting and you know what?
I. Can’t. Wait!
Why? Because this is my last semester of full-time undergrad work!
College seems like it’s taken for-EVER, even though it’s really only been…oh, about 5 1/2 years!
At any rate, I’ve got a lot to look forward to. There’s my (hopefully) soon-to-be-restarted tutoring job in the Southside CPS system as well as my unpaid-but-ultimately-satisfying media internship, blogging, photography, dance and of course, my classes!
It’s not so much about the research or the final projects or papers, but the fact that I will finally be able to use some of this stuff outside of class! For the first time in ages, I don’t know what’s happening next. Work and full-time school every semester and classes every summer…that’s not going to be me anymore. Heck, I could end up working at McDonald’s for the next three years while trying to publish short stories, get into grad school in Britain or attempt to make it as a freelance journalist for all I know!
Point being, I love school and I love learning. But you tend to learn a lot outside of the classroom and I am SO ready to get started.
So here’s a shout-out to all you UICers like me who are finally bringing their undergrad (or grad!) degrees to a close, AND to those who have just started or and still plugging away:
There is light at the end of the tunnel! Enjoy where you are and hope for awesome possibilities for the future!
But before before you get too depressed about the end of summer vacation as we know it, remember we still have Labor Day weekend!
Here’s a song to cheer you up!
