Rating Childhood Fits

Nothing brings more joy than looking at old photos and reminiscing on the past. Today's blog is focused specifically on the fire fashion of the 2000's, where my best friend Mick and I will be rating our friends' childhood fits. We are excited to look back on an era of fashion that was a true product of its time.

Starting off strong with Mick's submission, this look is truly a period piece. I can see a heavy influence from Disney Channel's "Shake It Up" with the sideways hat and zip-up hoodie. I am also loving the pop of hot pink and the lack of socks. I am not gonna lie, you are definitely outshining your sister. 9/10

Next up we have our dear friend Belle rocking an Avril Lavigne-esque look with her iconic hot pink and black plaid skirt. Cookie points for the plaid suspenders too. And the backpack??? She really went all out and we love to see it. The zebra print converse adorned with hot pink laces really are the perfect accent to this stylish outfit. RAWR XD/10

Twin moment!! We love how Nathan has used his father to emphasize the coolness of his fit, truly a trendsetter for using men as accessories. We feel like we would see this father-son combo at the skatepark shot-gunning some Mountain Dew. 8/10

Oh no! Looks like Gavin went too crazy on the monkey bars XD! However, the shamrock green cast added a funky accessory to this fit. Wish we could've been there to sign it! Ahead of his time repping the jorts and baggy shirt combo. Love the parallel of the boy on the shirt mirroring his own self. Bitmoji predictor? Most definitely. 7/10

Lauren looks like a La La Loopsy doll in the tights, striped socks, and mary janes. Super artsy and we just know they were a fiend for quiet reading time and arts n' crafts. The flowers on the peacoat are the perfect touch for a care-free spirit. Okay manic pixie dream girl! 8/10

Iva's serving dark academia cottage core with this navy long quilted skirt and button up sweater. Looks like she's about to curl up with a book, maybe a coloring one. That tooth gap is #chic and really representative of the model trends of the era. 8/10

Wow, Eli! The color coordination, clout goggles, and roller backpack scream celebrity in an airport but the hat, mittens, and boots scream snow day. We would love to see this fit in action at a ski resort or maybe at recess building a snowman. Super brave for wearing this indoors! 7/10

Sasha, we love this outdoor explorer moment repping the hot pink Keens. The surplus of pockets shows convenience and style which is exactly what this scavenger needs. She already found a stick! The purple jacket and bandana reflect her calm spirit and we condemn whoever rolled up her pants so they don't get wet. 8/10

Verity proving that she has always been dripped put, posing like a boss in front of a sweet ride. The layered jacket and hoodie over the beanie and sunglasses reminds us of Jesse Pinkman, but clearly the inspo was evil little sister from an early Nickelodeon show with the sheer confidence and coolness she exudes. Verity has, and always will be, a fashion icon. 10/10

Last and least, we think Dillon's face is the most important part of this fit: The Blank Stare. Really shows the existential crisis one of that age can battle on a horse. The juxtaposition of the "Welcome" pasted on his shirt shows how he's not welcome, in fact. He's at war with himself. The cafeteria got taken over by gross healthy food, he just lost fantasy football for the third year in a row, and he can't afford the Unicorn Frappuccino for his crush in science class. 5/10

Mick and I had such a blast writing this blog! Thank you to all of our friends who shared pictures with us and let us rate them, hopefully we were not too cruel...

If you enjoyed our commentary, be sure to check out Mick's show "Car Radio" on Mondays at 11am!
