Awesome news, Radiohead fans!
Radiohead, said to be recording music their 9th sudio album this month, has finally released new music through their free app, Polyfauna.
Polyfauna was released this past February. It is an interactive app involving trippy visuals and eerie-sounding clips of Radiohead songs. When the app was first released, it featured music from Radiohead’s 2011 album The King of Limbs.
In the app, the user seems to be walking through certain environments: strange-looking forests, a spiky cave area, and even as though he or she is flying through space. To turn and change directions, the user must turn his or her phone (or by using two fingers to turn).
The user can also touch the screen to make glowing shapes appear, even to touch floating objects that turn the world different colors. The strangest I’ve seen is a grayscale hilly world with small towers that crumble as the user approaches.
Access to these different worlds can be done when the user sees a flying, spinning white portal. As it approaches, the user finds a new world materializing on the screen.
While I tried my best to explain how it works, it’s way better to try it out on your own to get the full experience.
Interested in the app? Download it for free on your iPhone or Android now! For the time being, we’ll just have to anxiously wait until Radiohead’s new album releases.
