My go-to album recommendations

These are all albums I've had great luck at passing on. Music is incredibly subjective, but here are some classics that I find to break the barrier.

"Diamond Life" is my favorite Sade record, and it broke my mind a bit the first time I heard it. A better blend of pop, soul, and smooth jazz simply does not exist, and I wish to pass that on to anyone I can. Every time I listen, I find myself wondering how this could be a debut.

"Bryter Layter" by Nick Drake is another fantastic genre blend, this time of folk, jazz, and chamber pop. It masterfully does everything a folk record should: beautiful and grand instrumentals, a calming atmosphere, and devastating lyrics about the passing of time.

"Heaven or Las Vegas" by the Cocteau Twins. This is a fun one to try to describe to people who have never heard of it. Most people have probably heard the title track or "Cherry Coloured-Funk," but I need everyone to realize that brilliance extends to their whole discography.

I love "Blue Rev" very dearly. Another record that is a lot of fun. It's sweet, short, and sincere. I'm always impressed at how Alvvays manages to pull off such simple but extremely effective and playful lyrics.

"Titanic Rising" by Weyes Blood is my favorite of all time for a reason. It holds up on every listen.
