Love is an enigma. There is no singular way to describe it and what it means to those involved. It's experience is different for everybody. Music is one of the most powerful forms of expression. These are songs that I think encapsulate what love feels like perfectly.

"Lorraine" by Big Thief
“There I let you tie my hands back and take me." The mind of Adrianne Lenker is like the warmest embrace. Giving yourself over to another being in complete submission is one of the biggest forms of trust; it's surrender. To me, this sort of vulnerability is what makes love so monumental.
"Different This Time" by Cornelia Murr
Upon first listen, it is easy to think this song is solely somber. With her soft, ethereal vocals that surround you like an echo in a cave, one cannot help but be enchanted. In a sense, this song is melancholic, but the lyrics are also reassuring. I want this love to be different; I want to be different for you. I know I have been hurt before, but you make loving again worth the risk. You make me want to love the right way. Cornelia highlights the hope one can find in a love that soothes. Not all love ends in pain; not all love takes. This song reminds us of that.
"This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" by Talking Heads
Despite this song's upbeat melody, it never fails to make me emotional. David Byrne sings of the sense of security many have longed for growing up. We go about our lives, roaming aimlessly, for something that makes us feel as though we belong. “Out of all those kind of people, you got a face with a view. I'm just an animal looking for a home, and share the same space for a minute or two." It highlights the impact one person can have on us, and how we can find a home in them. This love is what I have been looking for all my life, and it's more than enough.
"In a Week" by Hozier (feat. Karen Cowley)
This song can be described as hauntingly beautiful. Despite its gothic message, this melody somehow provides serenity to those who listen. Hozier sings about love between two people that goes beyond the physical realm. There is no end to their love. As long as they find a place where they can be together, it does not matter how their bodies rot or are consumed. They will be at peace for all eternity, slowly merging into one.
"Time After Time" by Margaret Whitting
There is nothing more romantic than jazz music, and this song is no different. It is the kind of love song that will overwhelm you with emotion, leaving your eyes misty. If you listen to any of my recommendations, please let this be the one. I cherish this piece with my whole heart.
I will include my playlist of enchanting melodies that are the embodiment of love. Happy Week of Love!
