Lorde has finally started teasing her heavily anticipated 4th studio album, and I couldn't be happier.
She began by wiping her entire Instagram, something she often does before starting a new era. She changed her profile picture to an image of her multicolored water bottle, which doesn't make sense and is very on-brand for Lorde.
Next, she released a video of herself running through Washington Square Park with a new snippet of music playing in the back. It had a synth-filled sound, reminiscent of her second studio album, Melodrama. The lyrics read as follows.
"Since I was seventeen, I gave you everything
Now, we wake from a dream
Well, baby, what was that?
What was that?"
This sent fans into a frenzy as they realized that she had finally released the first teaser of L4.
Shortly after this, she posted a cryptic picture on her Instagram, which many fans think is an easter egg for the new album. A piece of paper reading "WHAT WAS THAT" can be seen with "EYO" and "JHS" under it, which fans realized was her own initials (Ella Yellich O'Connor) along with her producer "James Harmon Stack."
Fans believe that the lead single will be titled "WHAT WAS THAT," and the snippet that she released is a part of this song.

They also took notice of other messages in the picture, like the word "Hammer," the acronym "ISCSMN," and "Nylon V2," which are believed to be other track titles from the album. The last thing they noticed was the imagery of what seems to be DNA or chains that are doodled on the paper, which may be imagery for the new album.

To top it all off, Charli XCX brought Lorde out to perform their collaboration, "Girl, So Confusing," at Coachella this weekend, and at the end, Charli herself said, "LORDE SUMMER 2025," Confirming fan's suspicions of a new album coming in the upcoming months.
