WHO IS KAYTRANADA?

If you haven’t heard of KAYTRANADA, you’re missing out on one of the most groundbreaking music producers today. Born Louis Kevin Celestin in Haiti and raised in Montreal, KAYTRANADA has made a name for himself with a sound that’s instantly recognizable. His music is a fusion of house, funk, hip-hop, and R&B. His beats are both smooth and electrifying! And, of course, he doesn't just produce tracks; he crafts the mood of the music.

Starting from his early days on SoundCloud, KAYTRANADA quickly rose to prominence and became a force in the music industry. His 2019 album, BUBBA, showcased his signature style and earned him two Grammys! Whether he’s collaborating with top-tier artists or creating his own hits, KAYTRANADA consistently delivers music that is fresh, timeless, and undeniably cool.

MY FAVS

When it comes to KAYTRANADA’s discography, you can’t really go wrong. Every track has its own spark. That said, we all have our personal favorites, and narrowing mine down wasn’t easy. Sure, classics like “YOU’RE THE ONE” and “10%” are basically untouchable, but here are my top 3 KAYTRANADA songs that I keep coming back to: 3. What You Need (ft. Charlotte Day Wilson)

This song is pure perfection. The chemistry between KAYTRANADA’s production and Charlotte Day Wilson’s voice is unreal. The mellow vibe pulls you in and keeps you hooked until the very last beat. This is one of those tracks where you stop what you are doing and just listen to the *music*.

2. BULLETS (ft. Little Dragon)

I love how this song feels like a journey. Little Dragon’s vocals paired with KAYTRANADA’s production make for an ethereal vibe. I have also previously heard about Little Dragon through their collaboration song with Gorillaz called "Empire Ants." It’s the kind of song you can lose yourself in, whether you’re dancing at a party or just vibing on a late-night drive.

1. Please Babe

This one takes the top spot for me. When I heard this song during my internship, it felt like being at a party on a summer night (which it actually was). It’s laid-back yet full of emotion, perfect for when you want to wind down or just zone out for a bit. The number of times I think about how good this song is is crazy. Hands down, my favorite song from the album, TIMELESS!
