Lana Del Rey Strikes Again

Well. Here we are again. Typical Lana behavior has ensued and terrorized us yet again with some insane (but not shocking) news. If you aren't in the loop, I'll explain what's going on and get you filled in.

A few months ago, I made a post after Lana announced her new album "The right person will stay". Here we are, only a few months later, and Lana took it to the shed in the backyard. Before I get to that, let's talk about what happened before that. After Lana initially announced the project, there has been almost radio silence ever since. However, a couple of weeks ago, she posted a picture of what seemed to be an upcoming single called "Henry, come on". It was released only a week or two after, and this single confirmed our theories that it would be a country record. The song is pretty good, but I think I need a bit more time with it. I don't really have any problems with it, I've just never been super excited about the idea of Lana doing country.

Despite that, I was at least assured that the album would actually be released by the May 21st release date. However, Lana took to Instagram to cause her regular Lana chaos. She posted a reel, saying that a new single would also be released the following week. I cheered and clapped for that. Then she went on to say, "I have a lot to say about the album, I mean, you do know it's not coming on time, right? Like, should I even tell you the name changed again..." My girl is such a troll like what do you meannnn??? I think it's hilarious that she's finally acknowledging her inconsistencies with release times and all that, and it kind of softens the blow a bit. At least we had her new single to look forward to called "Bluebird".

This one is a lot more laid-back compared to the first one, but it's closer to what I've come to expect from Lana. The lyrics seem to be more thoughtful in this song, but 'Henry, come on' is probably a more interesting from a production perspective. I think both of these singles are solid, but I need more time with them before I can form a true opinion on either of them. I think these songs are reassuring that Lana can truly do the whole country thing, so I think the album might actually have a chance to win me over. The thing is, after Lana posted that video on her Instagram, we've been completely in the dark about the project. We have no clue what the new name is, the album art, or most importantly, the release date. I honestly believe that it could come out in the fall. I kind of feel like the music itself is pretty much done. Maybe she's still hashing out the visuals or the promotion for the album. Who knows. I've heard some rumors about another single coming out in the near future, but I'm not sure if there's any credibility to that or not.

Regardless, it looks like we have even more waiting to do for Lana's latest project. All we can do is hope that it's fully fleshed out when it does end up being released. That's all I have for this week's post, so thanks for reading!
