January Music Wrap Up

As the first month of the New Year comes to a close, we reflect back onto all that has happened within January. How have your new years resolutions been going? Oh, you haven’t been to the gym once? Same.  So far, the year has sizzled into extreme nothingness, and little has been monumental for 2015. However, one thing is for certain: we got a lot of great new tunes this past month.

Earlier in the month, we got a release from Meghan Trainor, who on January 9th put out her album titled, well, Title. Meghan Trainor is that one chick with that one song, you know? Anyway, I’m not going to dwell on this. No, I didn’t listen to her album. No, I’m not going to. Moving on.

Later in the month, things started to look up. The 20th brought us new tracks from Belle & Sebastian with Girl in Peacetime Want to Dance. This hour-long album is their ninth studio record that received generally positive reviews.

Another notable indie-rock name, The Decemberists released What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World.

Sleater-Kinney made a come back with No Cities to Love and it’s just as punk as you could imagine.

On the 23rd of January, Australian band POND released Man, It feels Like Space Again. Fans of Tame Impala will enjoy this record for it’s psychedelic, space-like rhythms and tunes.

Although there weren’t too many new tunes to enjoy this past month, I’m personally hoping things will get better this upcoming year. Don’t be surprised if February isn’t looking too bright. Maybe now’s the time to dive into your parents collection of 80s hair bands.
