Is There Hope for the Chicago Bears?

We’ve all seen this story before- The Chicago Bears (2-2) always start off the season strong, but collapse near the end. Is this in fate for the Bears this season as well? Let’s take a look.

Starting off the season, the Bears look pretty strong. Quarterback Jay Cutler, wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery and tight end Martellus Bennett to a victory over the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets.

However, they faced a loss to the Buffalo Bills in week 1, while getting shredded by the Green Bay Packers last week.

This is nothing new for Bears fans. In the 2012 season the Bears with their dominant defense started the season 3-1 and finished 10-6 just barely missing the playoffs.

In 2013, the Bears started 3-1 again, but lost the last two games to finish 8-8 and miss the playoffs once more.

Is this fated to happen again?

The Bears are not what they used to be defensively. The team once known for their defense has shifted to a more offensive approach under second-year coach Marc Trestman. They were ranked 30th in the league in points given up and 30th in yards given up per game. It has been much of the same this year – the rush defense is atrocious, while there is little hope in the pass defense.

Their offense saved them for much of the 2013 season, but collapsed towards the end of the year. This year the team is eerily similar to how they played last year. If things do not change soon, perhaps the Bears will be looking at another disappointing season.

Will this year be different?

Tomorrow at 12 pm they will be against the Carolina Panthers who are also 2-2 on the season as well.

How do you guys think this season will be for the Bears? Comment below! 🙂
