The Smiths. Modest Mouse. The Cribs. Johnny Marr has been one of the most influential, iconic guitarists ever since his unmistakable, jingle-jangly noodlings instantaneously became the part of genetic code for guitar based pop music for the better part of the last 30 years. However, despite his undisputed status as one of the greatest musicians to ever strum a guitar, Marr has never really been the the sole focus of the spotlight, as he has often shared its glow with the likes of Isaac Brock, Beck, Billy Bragg, and, most notably, Morrissey during his time with The Smiths. That is until now, or, technically speaking, a few days more into the future when Marr’s first ever solo album will be made available to all who have been yearning to go back to the days of Rickenbacker 330s and 6 stringed perfection.
Full album review coming soon. In the meantime, check out the title track off his new album, the Messenger .
