Donatella Versace took over as chief creative officer for Versace after her brother Gianni Versace's tragic murder in 1997. She has since been instrumental in shaping Versace's bold, glamorous, and innovative aesthetic. After three decades with Versace, she has decided to step down from her role.
I will share a thread of every iconic/ my favorite look that Versace has done since Donatella was the chief creative officer.
Jennifer Lopez's Grammy 2000's dress
In the 2000s, this dress was viewed as a bold move in fashion. It marked the first instance of a celebrity wearing such a revealing outfit on the red carpet, with a plunging neckline that was considered sexy. This dress caused a stir on the internet at the time, and soon after, it became an iconic look that was worn by different celebrities.
Briteny Spear's Butterfly Dress 2002
I absolutely love this dress! It's so beautiful and feminine, adorned with vibrant colors and rainbow sequins. The design is meant to create a butterfly effect. Recently, Blake Lively wore the same dress for the premiere of "It Ends with Us."
Blake Lively Met Gala Looks (2018 & 2022)
Speaking of Blake Lively, no matter how much hate she is getting right now, we all must agree that she never fails to outdo herself during the Met Gala. In 2018, The Met Gala theme was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." Let's say she looked Heavenly for sure. Her look featured detailed embroidery, including a jewel-encrusted bodice, and apparently, it took 600 hours to make it. In 2022, the Met Gala theme was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” and Blake Lively's dress was a tribute to New York's architecture, specifically the Statute of Liberty. The copper hue symbolized the original color of the Statue of Liberty. The rest of the dress, which is a greenish-blue tone, mirrors the natural oxidation process of the statue over time.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who didn’t know that Versace made most of Taylor Swift's Era Tours bodysuits and a few outfits! I recently discovered that the iconic “Lover” bodysuit, which so many people have recreated, is a Versace piece.

Even if you haven't watched the movie "13 Going on 30," you probably recognize this iconic dress! It's a popular choice for Halloween costumes every year. While the original dress might not be used, many recreate the look as part of their costumes. Last Halloween, Jennifer Garner, who plays the main character Jenna in the film, wore a similar outfit, bringing back a wave of nostalgia for fans.
