Friendly Hello and Introduction!

Hello hello hello everyone!! I hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing break; I am having a wonderfully relaxing time. On my Instagram, I put up a question box asking for some album recommendations, and I got many responses!! For length's sake, I'm going to split this up into two parts. Because of my pure heart and pure intentions, most things I rate end up being higher on the scale, and a lot of you guys sent me albums I already knew, or it was from an artist I had already listened to. If this totally interests you after the second blog post, I'll put up another submissions inbox!!

So, nevertheless!! Here it is :-)

This was my first time hearing of Judee Sill at all, and after my first listen-through, I fell in love; it's so beautifully crafted, soft, delicate, and an incredible listening experience.

This was my first time hearing of Trip The Witch as well! It was so beautifully hypnotizing; I loved the psychedelic-esque sound; it was incredibly soothing. Everything melted into the next song in a phenomenal way

This album is such a classic, one of my go-to's, and one of my favorite bands of all time. This album is so viscerally angry you're primally thrown and tossed around with it. This definitely reminded me I need to write more about death metal, one of my favorite genres ever, thank you for submitting this Lucas. <3

Mind-blowing, eccentric, eclectic, fabulous. Oxbow is one of the coolest bands of all time; I love the mixing of noise rock and avant-garde jazz sound. Any music Oxbow creates possesses you; their work is some of the best to ever be made.

It took me a few listens to get into the groove of Axe to Fall; I'm picky when it comes to metalcore; however, the more I listened to it, the more I loved it. I love the sludge and prog aspects of this album. Dark Horse isn't really my favorite; I definitely prefer the sound of Worms Will Feed / Rats Will Feast. I feel some mastodon elements in their music, as well as melvins, especially in WWF/RWF. Absolutely amazing.

Opinion:

I listened to the OG Brockhampton back in early high school and middle school, and by the time TM had released, I hadn't given it a chance; I regretted it. It's so funky, upbeat, smooth sounding, bubbly, and overall captivating. My friends had listened to this with me and said they couldn't recognize that this was Brockhampton, and I agree it sounds different from their older music but I still love it!!

UIC Radio member Instagram @seaannn._ Opinion:

I didn't know what to expect going in, and I was pleasantly surprised. I did judge a book by its cover (sorry, Sean!!) at first, BUT! I ate my words--or initial impression. The mixing of classic rock with folk and jam creates such a pleasant listening experience. It definitely feels like something I would listen to on a long train ride; I really, really like it!!
