Hey guys! So Diwali, aka ‘The Festival of Lights’ is coming up so you know what that means! UIC’s Indian Student Association is holding a Diwali Night show right here at UIC on Monday October 20th!
Diwali is celebrated to signify the victory of good over evil and of lightness over darkness. When celebrating Diwali, Indians put lamps and lights outside their homes. It represents the inner light that protects us from spiritual darkness.
To Hindus, spiritual darkness include many factors such as anger, jealousy, ignorance, greed and fear. By lighting lamps, symbolically, the light destroys the darkness allowing us to become better versions of ourselves for the upcoming New Year.
So on Monday, October 20th, Indian Student Association will be holding a Diwali Night Show which will include several Indian dance performances, from UIC Bhangra, UIC Dangeraas and many more! It will be followed with an Indian dinner and a dance floor right after the show! Come out and learn what Diwali is all about!
Tickets can be bought THIS WEEK in front of Student Center East from 12-4 right outside the bookstore.
