Celebrating SHPE's 50th Anniversary

This year, SHPE celebrated their 50th anniversary. How did they celebrate this milestone? With the SHPE convention of course! Let's get to the highlights on what the experience at SHPE felt!

WORKSHOPS

At SHPE, there were numerous workshops focused on engineering and career development. I had the chance to attend SHPEtinas events, where women shared their experiences at the executive level. Additionally, there were sessions dedicated to enhancing professional skills and perfecting resumes. Networking with fellow attendees and engaging with panelists also provided valuable insights into the journeys of Hispanic engineers.

HOSPITALITY SUITES

Before the career fair, students and professionals had plenty of chances to connect with companies and employers through hospitality suites. Participating companies included Apple, Amazon, Jacobs, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and many more! These suites allowed attendees to have one-on-one conversations about their career interests and learn about potential opportunities.

CAREER FAIR

This career fair was the most bustling one I’ve ever attended. As early as 2:30 p.m., students and professionals were lined up, resumes in hand, eager to secure on-site interviews. The fair featured a wide array of companies offering information about full-time and internship positions. On top of that, attendees could collect some fantastic merchandise, such as tote bags, bottles, and pens.

SHPE FIESTA

To wrap up the convention, Region 2 hosted a 70s-themed closing party! The SHPE Fiesta featured plenty of delicious food and fun photo opportunities. Attendees were also given commemorative 50th Anniversary shirts to celebrate this special milestone.
