August Releases that Altered My Brain Chemistry

August has been a phenomenal month for music, filled with life-changing singles and albums. To kick off the new school year, I wanted to highlight my favorite releases to spice up your back-to-school playlists.

This Is How Tomorrow Moves by beabadoobee

Beabadoobee’s work has always been overflowing with talent, but her most recent album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, is by far one of my favorites. Her unique sound and lyricism perfectly capture the transition between summer and fall. My favorite tracks are "Beaches" and "California" because of their nostalgic vibe. Each track is cohesive and jam-packed with emotion, making it one of my favorite albums released this year.

Buzz by NIKI

NIKI pivoted from her usual Alternative/R&B vibe in her newest album, experimenting with new sounds and showcasing her incredible vocal range. The album’s instrumentals, like the guitar riffs and rock melodies, emanate an early 2000s vibe that’s perfect for walking around campus. Her work drips with potential and definitely deserves more attention. My favorite tracks are "Blue Moon" and "Colossal Loss," both of which are regulars in my playlists.

DIE FOR ME by Chase Atlantic

In anticipation of their upcoming album, I’ve been listening to Chase Atlantic’s music nonstop. Their latest single, "DIE FOR ME," didn’t disappoint. They stayed true to their catchy lyrics and hypnotic style, stunning with another addicting song. I’m looking forward to their new album and hope it has a variety of songs like their previous releases.

Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter

It would be a crime not to mention Sabrina Carpenter’s latest work, Short n’ Sweet. Each track suited Sabrina’s voice extremely well, demonstrating her artistic flexibility through numerous styles and genres. This album is perfect for soaking up the last few days of summer as we roll into fall. Her witty lyricism and dance-pop vibe are perfectly displayed in "Taste" and "Bed Chem," making them my favorite tracks. I also love the country vibes of "Good Graces," which suits her voice so well.
