A Love Letter to Brawl Stars

Samantha Snyder

June 7th, 2024. I wanted to hop on the bandwagon and play like everyone else. I was working a 9-5 over the summer, 40 hours a week, with 30 minutes for lunch. I thought you would be like every other mobile game that I get tired of after a week.

You weren't.

I played you every morning, and when I wasn't watching YouTube while I ate, I was upgrading my Brawlers. I had dreams about Brawl Ball; I would play Showdown Solos under my desk when no one was looking. On some days, I worked in the courthouse basement, shelving files, and I would take bathroom breaks just to play Knockout because it was the only place I had service.

El Primo, it will never be anyone else for me. You are my favorite tank, the sun to my moon, the light of my life. You have carried me to so many victories, upheld so many win streaks: It's not me, it's you, in a good way. Your fists of fury and flying elbow drop fascinated me from the start, and your ability to generate your Super from taking damage is a testament to how brilliant your strength is. I will name my firstborn after you. They will dress up as you for Halloween, years in the future when many have forgotten your name.

But I won't. I never will.

I love you, Brawl Stars. I love you, El Primo. I love you forever and always.
