3 Horror Movies that Aren’t Horror Movies

If you’re feeling like a cozy night in yet still be somewhat festive during Halloween season, I’ve compiled a small list of chilling movies to watch.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

This movie feels very much like a nightmare kind of fever dream much like the other ones listed. This one has more of a melancholic feel if you’re feeling like watching something sad but cozy that isn’t a tear-jerker. This pick is more on the cozier (less haunting) side than the rest on this list. Light a candle and bust open a bottle of wine and the mood is perfect.

Beau is Afraid (2023)

This is definitely one you can pause or skip through if some of the clips are too discomforting. It is the perfect kind of abstract humor for watching with some friends to laugh and make jokes or comment during some parts. This is an Ari Aster film that does have psychological elements but a bit less disturbing than Midsommar if you aren’t feeling something too graphic. 

Kinds of Kindness (2024)

This one is also a fun rollercoaster of a film as it does come in parts. Also a perfect streaming movie for something to pause and come back to. I would not recommend watching this with parents as it does have some discomforting elements. It does, however, have psychological, suspenseful, yet poetic elements that make this movie a work of art.
